National Good Neighbor Day 2024

This Saturday, September 28 is National Good Neighbor Day—a perfect opportunity to spread kindness and strengthen your community. Acts of kindness, no matter how small, can create ripples of positivity, fostering a deeper sense of connection with those around you. It’s a chance to show your neighbor they’re seen, valued, and appreciated. We’ve listed some ideas below.

Also, now could be a great time to try out our new bulletin board feature to setup a small get-together for Saturday. New associations have bulletin board feature enabled by default. Older groups can switch from discussion threads to the bulletin board on their settings page.

Once enabled you can click “Create New Post”:

And choose a post type of “event”:

Some ideas to celebrate the day:

  • Just be friendly! Be mindful of times you can wave, or ask about their day.
  • Sit out on the front porch so that you can wave at your neighbors as they drive by
  • Go on a neighborhood family walk or bike ride and resolve to say “Hello” to everyone you pass.
  • Take a family walk and pick up trash that may be left behind
  • Smile at every single person you see during the day (even with a mask on, you can smile with your eyes)
  • Send a short heartfelt note or card.

Taking a moment to show kindness this Saturday can transform your neighborhood into a warmer, more supportive place. It’s not just about the gesture—it’s about building bonds that make everyday life better for everyone. National Good Neighbor Day is a reminder that we’re all part of a larger community, and by extending a hand, we contribute to making it stronger. So, mark your calendar and get ready to brighten someone’s day with a simple act of goodwill!
